I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a project blog for a while now. I want to record and share the many different projects I find myself drawn to. As a mom with teenagers, I often think about what they need to know to go out into the big wide world on their own. Part of that knowledge I feel comes in the basic “how-to” projects. Now admittedly most of these projects are not going to be necessary perhaps, but nice to know none-the-less. I think about how many times I’ve called my mom or dad to ask them for directions for just such things. Memories from growing up include things like: home decor, basic construction skills, recipes, sewing skills, family organization, family gift ideas and the list goes on. I would like to keep a record of these fun projects and the lessons we learn from them.
For several years, our family was in transition as my husband finished his education. We went about things a bit non-traditionally, so our family is a bit older than the average family coming out of school. We’ve collectively learned a lot and would not trade the experience. During those years I worked different jobs, held down the household and kept too busy to have many hobbies. So when we finally settled down, I really didn’t have any idea of what “crafty” things still interested me. I was a little surprised at the things I just didn’t like anymore and the new things I did. I’m still experimenting with different ideas and hope you will enjoy sharing in my discoveries. A few of my new-found interests are: photography, antique collecting, refinishing furniture, home decor, organizing, quilting, and ANYTHING to do with Scrabble Tiles.
I will of course share new projects, but I will also share past projects that I have pictures of. These may not have the step-by-step pictures, but will hopefully help get your creativity started.
